Alexander Cochran
I’m actively building my list and am always on the lookout for new writers of speculative fiction, literary fiction, crime and thriller and serious non-fiction. My tastes range widely, and in fiction I’m particularly interested in dark thrillers and crime novels, sci-fi and fantasy that push boundaries or cross genres, but are rooted in the believable, playful literary fiction, and novels that don’t shy away from the darker aspects of humanity. On the non-fiction side, I tend towards the serious, and I am looking for books with big ideas that subvert our assumptions, serious histories, and narrative non-fiction with a focus on contemporary events and issues.
A random selection of authors I love includes Michael Chabon, Cormac McCarthy, Michael Pye, Joe Abercrombie, Peter Ackroyd, Chris Whitaker, Claire Vaye Watkins, Jaron Lanier, Raymond Chandler, Richard Swan, Barbara Demick, Adelle Waldman, Cathy O’Neill, Lian Hearn, Blake Crouch, James SA Corey, Naomi Alderman, Pierce Brown, Tana French, Barbara Kingsolver, and Donald Ray Pollock.
