Alexander Cochran
Alex is actively building his list and is always on the lookout for new writers of speculative fiction, commercial fiction, literary fiction, crime and thriller and serious non-fiction. His tastes range widely, and in fiction he's particularly interested in heart-pounding commercial thrillers and dark crime novels, sci-fi and fantasy that push boundaries or cross genres, sweeping stories that pack an emotional punch, and playful literary fiction.
Right now, he’d love to find a brilliant, twisty psychological suspense novel that could sit alongside Freida McFadden or Clare Douglas, and a contemporary horror novel akin to Lucy Rose or Andrew Michael Hurley’s writing.
On the non-fiction side, he tends towards the serious, and is looking for books with big ideas that subvert our assumptions, serious histories, and narrative non-fiction with a focus on contemporary events and issues.
A random selection of authors he loves includes Cormac McCarthy, Michael Pye, Joe Abercrombie, Peter Ackroyd, Chris Whitaker, Ruth Ware, Claire Vaye Watkins, Raymond Chandler, Richard Swan, Barbara Demick, Gillian Flynn, Cathy O’Neill, Emily St John Mandel, Blake Crouch, James SA Corey, Naomi Alderman, Pierce Brown, Tana French and Barbara Kingsolver, .
