Dr Hannah Little

Dr Hannah Little is a science communicator, stand-up comedian and linguist. After completing a PhD in Belgium and a Postdoc in the Netherlands, both in evolutionary linguistics, Hannah now works as a Senior Lecturer in Science Communication at UWE Bristol, where she teaches and researches effective ways to communicate about academic research with the public. She still keeps a foot in linguistic research, and supervises PhD students in the linguistics department.

Hannah is a frequent contributor to Babel, a magazine about linguistics aimed at general audiences, and occasionally interviews people about science fiction for the Cosmic Shed Podcast. She often takes to the stage at comedy nights and science festivals, mostly telling humorous stories about linguistics, aliens and artificial intelligence. She has appeared at the British Science Festival, TEDx, and on BBC Radio 4's Stranger than Sci-Fi and Word of Mouth with Michael Rosen.

Originally from Stockton-on-Tees in the North East of England, she now lives in Bristol and is working on her first non-fiction book about language, science fiction, and the power of outsider perspectives.
