Greyhound Literary

Submissions

What Are Greyhound Literary Agents Looking For?

Our agents each have their own tastes and interests, so please look at our profile pages and client lists which can be found via the links at the bottom of this page. Between us, we welcome submissions to Greyhound Literary in the following areas: fiction, both commercial and literary; non-fiction, in particular biography, cookery, history, popular science, big ideas, humour, memoir, music, politics, sport and wellbeing and lifestyle; and children’s fiction and non-fiction.

How to Submit

  • FICTION: send a cover letter briefly introducing yourself and your work, together with the first three chapters of your novel and a synopsis.
  • NON-FICTION: send a cover letter briefly introducing yourself and your work, together with an outline which tells us about your book and why you are best-placed to write it, along with some sample writing from it.
  • CHILDREN'S PICTURE BOOKS: send a cover letter briefly introducing yourself and your work, together with the full manuscript and sample illustrations (if you are also the illustrator for the book).

Please remember to look at our agent profile pages before deciding which one of us should receive your work. If we think that it might be better suited to a colleague we will share it with them, so please do not submit to more than one of us.

Guidelines: please read before submitting

Your submission should be emailed directly (and only) to the agent you wish to approach.

You can find each Greyhound Literary agent’s email address on their full profile page.

Please do not send submissions to Greyhound Literary by post. We discard any physical submissions without review and cannot respond to them.

We aim to respond to submissions within 6-8 weeks of receipt but regret that it is not always possible to reply to everyone, due to the volume that we receive.

If you are based in an English-speaking country outside the UK or the Republic of Ireland in which there are well-established literary agencies, we would expect you to have a convincing reason for wanting to be represented by an agency in the UK.

We do not handle poetry or screenplays and will not consider, or respond to, submissions of work in these areas.
