Rebecca John
Rebecca John is the author of six published books to date.
Her short story collection, Clown’s Shoes, included stories which were shortlisted for the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award and won the PEN International New Voices Award.
Her debut novel, The Haunting of Henry Twist, was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award.
Her short stories have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 4Extra, and she was named on Hay Festival's ‘The Hay 30’ list.
Her novella, Fannie (Honno), was shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year 2023.
Her novel Vulcana (published in 2023 by Honno) was called ‘exceptional’ (Liz Hyder), ‘unflinching, passionate’ (Joanne Burn) and said to be ‘simmering with sensuality’ (Essie Fox).
Rebecca is mother to two young boys. She freelances as an editor, tutor, and production manager. She lives near Swansea with her partner, children, and dogs.
She is a proudly working-class writer.
