Penny Wincer

Penny is a freelance writer and non-fiction writing coach based in London. Her first book, Tender: The Imperfect Art of Caring (Coronet) was published in June 2020, and her second, Home Matters, is forthcoming in 2024. She has written for the Telegraph, BBC Radio 4, Red Magazine, the iPaper amongst others and was a runner up in the Harper’s Bazaar Short Story Prize in 2022.

Penny was born and raised in Melbourne, where she completed a degree in film and creative writing. She spent six years working as a fashion photographers assistant between New York and London, before becoming an interiors and lifestyle photographer, shooting for magazines and brands for 15 years. Penny has a MA in Creative and Life Writing with Distinction from Goldsmiths and hosts the podcast Not Too Busy To Write whose guests have included Kate Mosse, Claire Fuller, Cathy Rentzenbrink, Catherine Newman, Huma Qureshi and many more.
