Hugo Drochon is the founder of CRISPI, the Centre for Research into Ideas and the Study of Political Ideologies at the University of Nottingham, having previously held a research fellowship in politics at the University of Cambridge under David Runciman and Richard Evans at CRASSH. He is the author of two previous books, both published by Princeton University Press: Nietzsche's Great Politics [2016] and Elites and Democracy [2026]. He has appeared regularly on BBC Radio and at public festivals, and written for the New Statesman, The Nation, Al Jazeera, le Grand Continent and the Financial Times. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the American Political Science Association. He is a citizen of the UK, Ireland and France, and a Cambridge Blue in basketball. He lives in London with his wife and young son.
