Ciar is an author and journalist living with her husband and three children in the historic country town of Lewes in Sussex, UK, which inspired her debut novel. When she is not dreaming up murderous plots involving members of the Bloomsbury Group, she writes about gardening for national publications. For three years she volunteered in the beautiful walled garden at Charleston farmhouse, the country home of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, and spent long hours while weeding imagining what life must have been like when they lived there. As a graduate of English Literature from Edinburgh University, she probably spends more time than is healthy thinking about Virginia Woolf, who lived with her husband Leonard just down the road at Monk’s House in the village of Rodmell. When she is not writing she is usually to be found in her garden shed, or up on her allotment overlooking the South Downs.
