Patricia Kingori

Patricia Kingori is a Fellow of Somerville College and Professor of Global Health at the Wellcome Centre for Ethics & Humanities in the University of Oxford, where for the past four years she has led a Wellcome-funded research investigation into fakes, fabrications and falsehoods in global health, focusing on Africa. Her highly acclaimed podcast, Exploring the Genuine Fake, explores their findings. Patricia is herself Kenyan-born and has been able to make close bonds of trust with otherwise-cautious surrogacy workers there that have permitted her unprecedented access to this crucial but overlooked community. And she understands being a pioneer, having been both one of the youngest women to be awarded a full professorship in Oxford’s 925-year history and the youngest Black professor at Oxford or Cambridge.
