Matthew Ford

Matthew Ford is Associate Professor of War Studies at Swedish Defence University in Stockholm. He has worked for the UK Government in a variety of roles and also been a consultant to PwC and IBM. He was the founding editor of the British Journal for Military History, has a PhD in War Studies from KCL, has taught at the universities of Birmingham, Sussex, Birkbeck and Hull, was a West Point Fellow, and is a frequent podcaster on military topics. He published a book on small-arms Weapon of Choice in 2017 [Hurst/OUP USA] and co-authored with Andrew Hoskins a highly-acclaimed academic book about data, media and war, Radical War [also Hurst/OUP USA], released in 2022. He is now writing about War in the Age of the Smartphone for Hurst, aiming for publication in 2025.
